Douglas has won the Winsor & Newton award for best oil painting for Captain Sydney Thomas Smith MBE (shown) in the 2011 Royal Society of Marine Artists Exhibition in London and was also elected Associate Member of the Royal Society of Marine Artists (RSMA) in October 2011.
